Santa and the Timbers' Elves Christmas Party

Santa Claus will listen to children’s wishes and pose for photos at the 8th Annual Timbers’ holiday event, “Santa and the Elves,” from 1 – 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at The Timbers of Shorewood retirement community, 1100 N. River Rd. This event has become a favorite holiday festival for the entire community.

“Families can have a wonderful Saturday afternoon,” said Shelly Goggins, activities director at The Timbers. “There will be treats, surprises and animals galore including real reindeer from Summerfield Farms in Belvidere.”

Phil Nielson is bringing his draft horses for hay rides, and Friendly Farms of DeKalb is bringing lots of small animals - goats, chickens, sheep, etc. - for everyone to pet.

In addition, juggler Mike Vondruska will be on hand, and Shorewood Police Officer Kim Guigler will do face-painting. Dan Laib and Angel Contreras will draw caricatures of festival-goers of all ages, and Russ Schreck will draw portraits.

From 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. the Plainfield Community Chorus will present a holiday concert featuring Christmas carols and Santa songs.

From 2:30 – 3 p.m., the Little People will put on a show. Founded in 1979, Those Funny Little People Enterprises, Inc. has created dozens of original characters who perform hundreds of mini-musicals. The group particularly enjoys performing at retirement communities.

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay - a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
