Baby Cow Missing from Farm Has Returned
The one-week-old brown cow was reported stolen July 30.
WILMINGTON, IL — A one-week-old brown cow that was believed to have been stolen has returned to its owner nearly a week after being reported missing.
Will County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Kathy Hoffmeyer said the cow came back to the farm on its own.
“He and his wife were quite surprised,” Hoffmeyer said. “He has no idea how the cow got out, but said that he believes it was in the corn field and/or wooded area that butts up to his property.”

The owner originally thought the cow had been stolen because no fence areas were damaged and he didn’t find any traces of blood that would suggest a coyote or wolf attack.
The cow was a little worn, but otherwise fine.
