Health Dept. Helps Keep Food Safe

Will County Environmental Health sanitarians conducted 1,454 food service inspections for temporary events during 2014.

If your church, business, club, or community organization sponsors a fundraiser where food is served, you probably know the Will County Health Department’s Division of Environmental Health inspects and permits temporary events to ensure food safety.

The warm-weather months are the prime season for sporting events, fairs, festivals, community barbecues and dozens of other occasions where food is served to the public. Will County Environmental Health inspects them all; making sure proper food storage, handling and preparation helps to minimize the potential for food-borne illness.
