Holy Family Students Study the Olympics

Holy Family 3rd and 4th graders recently studied the Winter Olympics.  They learned about the history of the games leading up to this year.  During the recent contest in Sochi, the students tracked the United States' medal winners, and tallied the gold medals won by each country.  Wonderful projects were turned in featuring the many aspects of the Winter Olympics.  The culmination of the unit was the HFS Olympics.  The 5th grade was invited to participate in the games alongside the 3rd and 4th grade Olympians.  In the gym, the students created flags representing their teams using iPads to accurately depict the flags.  Then they competed in speed skating, biathlon, skeleton, bobsledding, and curling.  Scooters, hockey sticks, shoe boxes and bean bags served as props and helped bring the games to life.
