I-55 Panhandlers Busted By Shorewood Police

SHOREWOOD, IL - Last week, officers at the Shorewood Police Department made two separate arrests that aren't routine occurrences in the village crime blotter. On Tuesday morning, officers arrested 58-year-old Bonnie Johnson and later that afternoon, 31-year-old Amanda Stukel. Both women were arrested on charges of soliciting on a roadway. Their arrests by Shorewood Police occurred about seven hours apart.

Johnson, formerly of Shorewood, now shows an address in the 800 block of Joliet's Plainfield Road. She was arrested near I-55 and Jefferson Street around 7:50 a.m. As for Stukel, she lives in the 2300 block of Joliet's Marmion Avenue. She was arrested by Shorewood Police at I-55 and Jefferson Street shortly before 3 p.m., police reports show.

Will County Jail logs show that Johnson was arrested by Joliet's Police Department in 2016 for being a pedestrian soliciting on a highway. Stukel was arrested in 2016 by Joliet for a parole violation.
