Joliet Central Wrestling Team “Takedown Cancer” on January 9th

The Joliet Central High School Wrestling Team invites the public to "Takedown Cancer" during the SPC Dual against Plainfield Central High School on January 9, 2020 at 5:00 pm at Joliet Central High School. By hosting a "Takedown Cancer" wrestling match, the team will raise and donate funds directly to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.

A long-time wrestling coach and teacher at Joliet Central, Pat O’Connell, sadly lost his battle with this cancer this past March. Lung cancer is the deadliest form of cancer among both men and women. It is responsible for more deaths than breast, colon, and prostate cancers combined. It was his idea to support the Takedown Cancer organization 3 years ago and Joliet Central High School will continue this tradition.

On January 9th, the wrestling team will have raffles, including a 50/50 cash raffle through JT Athletic Boosters, to support Takedown Cancer. They are also selling wristbands for $1 each. With the purchase of a wristband, your admission fee will be waived. The team will sell "Takedown Cancer" shirts for $12 (short sleeve) and $17 ( long sleeve), payable with cash or check (pay to the order of JTHS), during the wrestling match. All proceeds will go directly to Takedown Cancer.
