Joliet Family Says Car was Stolen from Dealership Lot
The car was taken there for repairs, but a week later the family learned it had been stolen.

Joliet resident Bayley Johnson had just gotten a new PT Cruiser when she went over a railroad track, hit a bump and had an electrical failure.
The family brought the car back in to D’Arcy, where they had purchased it, on Aug. 18, but the business couldn’t diagnose it, according to April Johnson, Bayley’s mom. D’Arcy then reached out to Chrysler dealer Tyson Motor in Shorewood to diagnose it and brought the car over there Aug. 20.

The family waited nearly a week until they found that their car wasn’t at Tyson and had been stolen from the lot.
But the family didn’t initially hear it from Tyson, according to April. They heard it from D’Arcy. But when the family talked to Tyson, they were told that three other cars had been stolen, April said.

However, Shorewood Police Chief Aaron Klima said one car was reported stolen and was unaware of any other instances of a car being stolen from the lot.
April said she was told that the car had been missing since Aug. 19 and that when Tyson went to diagnose the car they couldn’t find it.
“The car and the key is missing,” April said. “It almost seems like they were hiding the fact that they lost the car. I can’t help but get that impression from them. They avoided calling.”
Joe Hart at Tyson Motor said he wasn’t at liberty to speak about the incident and that the police should be contacted.
Due to it being an ongoing investigation, Klima was unable to comment further about the theft.
