Joliet Woman Stealing Food Punched Jewel Security Guard in Face: Cops

The woman was stealing juice, a sausage pizza and deli meats, police said.

A Joliet woman punched a Jewel security guard who caught her stealing juice, a sausage pizza and deli meats, police said.

Tempestt Phillips, 28, boosted the food from the Jewel at Midland Avenue and Jefferson Street Friday morning, police said, but when the 57-year-old guard stopped her, she punched him in the face.

Phillips allegedly pushed a 47-year-old woman who was working at the Jewel as well.

Phillips, who police said has two prior convictions for larceny, was charged with retail theft, aggravated battery and battery. She was taken to the Will County jail.
