JTHS Students Featured in Congressional Art Display

The art and photography of eighteen Joliet Township High School students was recently featured in the Congressional Art Recognition Ceremony held on May 3 at the David L. Pierce Art and History Center in Aurora.

 

The annual event allows high school students from the 11th Congressional district in Illinois and across the country to showcase their artistic abilities.

Joliet Central High School Photography students featured in the exhibit were Abbey Umek, Jill Sharp, Jackie Fiday, Natalie Castillo, Melissa Chavez, Yvette Lopez, Yaritza Pintor, Mitzi Alamillo, Lisset Rodriguez, Noelle Lefever, and Jayla Allen-Hill.

Joliet West High School Art students featured in the exhibit were Andrew Yeager, Savannah Gonzalez, Gage McLurkin, Rebekah Salazar, Cheyenne Mindak, Stacey Stanton and Jamie Nies.

 

Joliet West High School student Rebekah Salazar received third place for her submission, "Vanity."  Salazar's drawing will be framed and featured in the Congressman Bill Foster's Washington DC and District offices for one year.
