JWHS Student Selected for Leadership Seminar

Joliet West High School sophomore Crystal Offerman has been selected to participate the 2014 HOBY Illinois North Leadership Seminar. Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) is the nation’s foremost youth leadership development organization. It provides students with unique leadership training and an opportunity to learn how to make a difference in the world. Students meet Illinois leaders, participate in hands-on activities and explore their own leadership skills.

Students are selected for the seminar by their guidance counselor based on qualities such as outstanding communication skills, creative problem solving ideas, courage to speak for their beliefs, a charismatic personality, and dedication to community service. The program is widely recognized among college admissions officers and provides students unique access to additional recognition and scholarships. Offerman will attend the seminar this summer from June 20-22 at Loyola University Chicago.
