Kohld Feet?
Retail giant Kohl's is still scheduled to set up shop in Shorewood, but not until it's good and ready.
The eagerly anticipated Kohl's department store slated to open in October may not be coming to town for another year, Mayor Rick Chapman revealed at this week's village board meeting.
"We still want them there and we want them to start our commercial Towne Center," Chapman said of the Kohl's project, which was scheduled to start construction in April.
But a poor performance by the Kohl's company in the fourth quarter of 2011 has the retail giant rethinking whether to open some new stores and has prompted them to push back the construction start on its Shorewood endeavor, the mayor said.

"I think there's market forces at play here," said Village Administrator Jeff Fiegenschuh. "There's nothing that Shorewood can do."
On the bright side, Shorewood is still a destination for a future Kohl's, albeit farther off in the future than planned or the village fathers want.

"I'm still happy they're still telling us they're coming," Chapman said. "It's just going to be later than we thought."
And there may actually be something that Shorewood can do, as Chapman said he is trying to orchestrate a teleconference with some Kohl's bigwigs in hops of cutting the year-long delay in half.
Chapman hoped the critical teleconference would come off today.
"Kohl's is the prettiest girl that everybody wants to date," the mayor said. "We've still got a date. It's just later than everybody thought."
