Local Entrepreneur Aims to Educate, Grow Business Nationally

Shorewood, IL - Local entrepreneur, Jordan Campuzano, presented to over 200 students at Walnut Trails Elementary School on February 21, 2016. With her growing success in launching Mavi Bandz, a women's non-slip headband company, she felt compelled to share her excitement about her line of accessories to the local community.

The presentation was a part of Walnut Trails’ overall efforts to provide students with the opportunity to explore the variety of jobs in the real world. Campuzano spoke to the group about starting their own business from the ground up, and pursuing their dreams.

"I think it is important for young people to learn that you are free to dream and think outside the box. The idea of being an entrepreneur and starting your own business isn't something you learn in college. It is a journey you have to makeup as you go," said Campuzano.

Not only did the students get the opportunity to brainstorm ideas about businesses that they would like to open when they grow up, they came up with unique and lively ideas, ranging from their own dog walking services to ice cream shops. Campuzano hopes that by teaching the kids the meaning of entrepreneurship, they will be inspired to own their own business one day.

"My goal as a speaker was to let the students know that being part of the small business community is something truly amazing. I want them to grow up knowing that if they are really passionate about an idea, that the sky's the limit," said Campuzano.

Campuzano is excited about the growth of her business and the local support for her product. She is anticipating a huge year in brand awareness as the demand for her headbands spreads nationwide. Mavi Bandz will be debuting this spring at the nation’s largest beauty industry show in Orlando, as well as stops in dozens of other states before the end of the year.
