Man Claims 77-Year-Old Landlady Sent Grandson To Rough Him Up: Cops

The 60-year-old man's arm was broken in the attack, police said.

A Joliet man’s arm was broken in an attack he claimed was orchestrated by his 77-year-old landlady, police said.

The 60-year-old man reportedly told police his landlady, Gussie May White, allowed her grandson into his East Benton Street apartment while he was sleeping Thursday night.

The grandson “removed” the tenant from the apartment, and then, along with four other men, proceeded to beat him, the man reportedly told police.

White was arrested earlier that day on a charge of aggravated assault and released on her own recognizance. No details were available Friday on that incident, but the police suspect it may have prompted the alleged attack night-time attack.

White was brought in for questioning but refused to make a statement, police said, and she did not offer much information when contacted by Patch Friday.

“I ain’t seen nobody do nothing,” White said. “My grandson don’t live here. You all do what you want.”
