Meemic Foundation Grant Helps Enhance JWHS Art Program

Joliet West High School Art Teacher Iliana Angel was awarded a grant by the Meemic Foundation

Joliet West High School Art Teacher Iliana Angel was awarded a grant by the Meemic Foundation to benefit the school’s art program by including a printmaking unit for students.

Printmaking will allow all students to work with quality-grade material, and in turn, give them a solid final print product, which correlates directly to the district’s visual arts curriculum. The equipment is durable and long lasting, allowing students to be able to use it year after year.

“Students will learn a completely new way of creating a work of art, called printmaking,” said Angel. “In addition, students will develop ways to simplify a complex image and translate it to black and white, while continuing to think abstractly. They will also learn methods of creating a positive and negative image, and its importance to printmaking.”
