Minooka Woman Shot in Leg During Party Sues Triggerman, Landlord and Tenants: Lawsuit

The shooter was allegedly twirling an antique .22-caliber revolver on his finger when he accidentally shot the young woman.

A young woman accidentally shot in the leg during a party filed a lawsuit against the alleged triggerman.

Taylor Marion, 21, sued 21-year-old Dilan Rich in Will County court.

Marion and Rich were both 19 when she was shot in the leg at an August 2013 party. Rich was arrested and jailed shortly after the shooting on a charge of reckless conduct. Prosecutors dismissed the case four months later.

Rich, a Channahon resident who was working at a Delta Sonic and Texas Roadhouse, fired the gun “while twirling it on his finger,” according to a criminal complaint. At the time of the shooting, police said Rich was “handling a gun that he believed to be a decorative antique gun and was unaware of it being loaded and pressed the trigger.”

“The weapon was identified as a .22 caliber Western Ranger revolver,” police said.

Marion, a Minooka resident, was shot during a “small party,” according to police.

Marion’s wound was treated at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

In addition to Rich, Marion is also suing Daniel Liechtnam, Kristina Bishop and Joshua Bishop. Liechtnam owned the house on Manhattan Road outside Joliet where Marion was shot, police said. Kristina Bishop, 45, and Joshua Bishop, 21, “owned, controlled, rented and/or maintained” the residence.
