No Masks: Trinity Christian School Loses State Recognition
Losing state recognition impacts student diplomas, scholarship opportunities and athletics, according to WLS Channel 7.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Trinity Christian School in Shorewood is one of three private schools in Illinois to lose its state recognition after defying Gov. JB Pritzker's mask mandate for all Illinois schools. ABC Channel 7 in Chicago reported Friday that Trinity Christian, Lutheran School of St. Luke's in Itasca and Bethany Lutheran School in Naperville have all been sanctioned by the governor, according to the Illinois State Board of Education.
The Illinois State Board of Education made the decision on Wednesday, spokeswoman Jaclyn Matthews responded in an email on Thursday, according to a news story published by the ChicagoLand Chronicles.
According to its website, Trinity Christian School celebrated its 25th year during the 2017-18 school year. The current K-8th grade enrollment is about 250 students, and the preschool program now has an enrollment of about 200 children.

"As God leads and provides, future expansion plans include the potential for a high school. We praise God for His faithfulness in establishing Trinity and nurturing its growth. It is to Him we give the glory!" the Shorewood school's website proclaims.
On Thursday, Patch reported that Bethany Lutheran School in Naperville had lost state recognition after officials said it is not following Gov. J. B. Pritzker's school mask mandate. A day earlier, Patch reported that 21 Illinois school districts had been placed on probation for disregarding masks.
