NuMark Credit Union Helps To Provide A Special Christmas Thank You

Joliet, IL, December, 2014 – Throughout the year NuMark Credit Union collected donations for the “Wreaths Across America” project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring our nation’s heroes for their ultimate sacrifice. In total NuMark raised $2,671 and sponsored 276 wreaths at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. The money was collected through staff donations, American flag sales, member donations, and a contribution matched by NuMark.

For over 20 years wreaths have been provided for veterans in each branch of the military and sent to all participating State and National cemeteries, 24 offshore cemeteries, many local town cemeteries and monuments from the snow banks of Alaska to the sands of Iraq. Each year, over 300 locations nationwide hold wreath laying ceremonies. Over 100,000 wreaths have been donated and more than 65,000 volunteers have participated in the project.

All together 6,100 wreaths were placed at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. NuMark Credit Union’s board member, Wally Chlipala participated in the wreath laying ceremony on December 13th and shares his thoughts:

“I was pleased to see such a great turnout which included several NuMark Staff and Board Members at the ceremony held at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Many people brought their families, and I saw children placing wreaths. It is so easy to get lose in the rush of the holidays. These families took the time to say thank you to those who ave served and protected our freedom…what a wonderful way to share the Christmas spirit. Thank you to all who donated and helped us to remember our veterans and their families.
