Guy Raymond Barry
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Guy, 77, of Shorewood, IL, and formerly, Chicago. He departed this life unexpectedly, Monday, November 25, 2024. He was born March 12, 1947, to the late Mary, Antoinette and James Barry in Chicago. Guy served his Country proudly and admirably as a member of the US Army.

Guy, a man whose love for his family was unmatched, is survived by his wife Barb; his children, Sean (Nicole), Jason (Karin), and Jenny (Steve) Sauer; stepfather of Brian Comroe, Kim (RJ) Naber, Jamie (Kevin) Hernandez; beloved brother of Joyce (Bill) Ruhaak, Debbie (late Joe) Maschek, late Maureen (Kevin) Condon, Jim (Claudia), Marilyn (Elvo) Bucci; brother-in-law of Kevin (late Melba) Cuttone, Mary (Ed) Carey, late Chuck (Bernie) Cuttone, Sheila (Tony) Vaccarello; adored grandfather to Ashley and David Stevenson, Connor (Jaclyn), Patrick and Gavin Barry, Missy (Tony) Zamecnik, Ashley Sauer, Eamonn Stine, Elise and Claire Comroe, Ozzie and Leo Hernandez; beloved great-grandfather to Elliana Barry, Stephen, Athena, and Jack Zamecnik; favorite uncle and cousin to many.
Guy retired several years ago after serving many years as a butcher. In addition to his family, his passions included traveling with Barb and supporting the White Sox. He will be remembered, above all, for his service to others. He never missed a chance to be with his family and always put the needs of his loved ones above his own.

As it was Guy’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. Military Honors and committal prayers will take place privately on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. Inurnment will follow the ceremony in the National Cemetery Columbarium.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Guy’s name can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation at T2T.ORG.
