Obituary: Kenneth F. Doherty

Kenneth Francis Doherty, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away September 30, 2026.

Obituary published and funeral arrangements entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory

Kenneth Francis Doherty, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on September 30, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on October 30, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, Kenneth lived a life filled with love, adventure, and boundless generosity.

Throughout his 59 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Carolyn, affectionately known as Cricket, Kenneth built a legacy of love and devotion. The two were married on June 24, 1967, and together they traveled countless miles, exploring antique stores and garage sales, always on the hunt for hidden treasures. His passion for "junking" was unparalleled, and he found immense joy in uncovering the stories behind each little find.

Kenneth's life was a testament to his dual nature; while he was known for his stubbornness, those who knew him best also saw his heart, which was as generous as it was steadfast. His family and friends were often the recipients of his kindness, which he gave freely and without reservation.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carolyn, their two daughters, Carol (Prin) with her wife Terry, and Christie with her husband Jason. Kenneth was a proud grandfather to Justin, with his wife Ana, and Logan, significant other Juju as well as step-grandchildren Noah and Kaia. He was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Vivi, who brought him immense joy in his later years.

While Kenneth's family mourns his passing, they also celebrate the wonderful legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, generosity, and the joy of life's simple pleasures. In keeping with his wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his memory.

Kenneth Doherty will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. His life was a story of love, perseverance, and adventure, and his memory will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
