Poke Bros. Opens: 'We Made A Special Trip To Try It Out'

Former Joliet City Councilman Alex Ledesma along with his daughter were among the first customers to dine at the new Shorewood restaurant.

SHOREWOOD, IL —One of Joliet's best known local politicians, former east-side City Councilman Alex Ledesma, was spotted Thursday afternoon in neighboring Shorewood.

Shorewood? That's right.

Ledesma and his daughter, Cindy, made the drive to the new Poke Bros. Fresh Fish Hawaiian Style restaurant. Thursday marked the new Shorewood restaurant's first day of business.

Poke Bros. is now open every day, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It's at the corner of Black Road and Route 59 in the same building occupied by Noodles & Company and the Smoothie King.

"I love it. It's very delicious," Alex Ledesma told Joliet Patch's editor. "People are being more conscious of what they are eating."

Cindy Ledesma said she ordered the High Tide mix, which is No. 6 on the menu. Her meal included shrimp, chicken, sushi, avocado, pecan, cucumber, corn, carrots and pineapple.

"I've been seeing this for weeks on Facebook," Cindy Ledesma said of the Poke Bros. announcement of its grand opening for Shorewood. "It just looks really good and fresh, so we made a special trip to try it out."

Alex Ledesma said he ordered the No. 3, the Hula. It comes with shrimp, green onion, cucumber, crab stick, avocado, masago, OG sauce, coconut ginger and sriracha aioli.

According to its menu brochure, Poke Bros. offers "high-quality, sushi grade fish and farm-fresh veggies in an authentic Hawaiian Poke bowl."

This is the first Poke Bros. for the Joliet area. Others are located in Frankfort, Naperville, Aurora, St. Charles, Villa Park, Oakbrook Terrace, Niles, Schaumburg, South Elgin, Glenview, Lincolnshire, Palatine, Lake in the Hills, Lake Bluff and Gurnee.
