According to a 13-year Minooka resident who preferred to remain anonymous, the skimming issue has been happening for possibly months.
“All these locations are fully aware of what has been happening and it is obvious nothing is being done to secure their systems to stop it,” she said.
The resident said she noticed a fraudulent transaction on her card and immediately called to close the account.
“The scammers tried to put another one through for $900 and when it wouldn’t go through, they actually called my bank to see why,” she said.
Police said they are committed to providing an update to the concerns of the community as soon as possible.
If you’ve been victimized, report what happened at the police station or call 815-467-2161. Police ask that you bring at least two to three months of bank or credit card statements.
