Police Release Safety Initiative Results

Over 100 citations were issued.

On May 19, 2015, The Naperville Police Department, Shorewood Police Department, Plainfield Police Department, Warrenville Police Department, Bartlett Police Department, Hoffman Estates and Streamwood Police Department conducted a directed traffic safety initiative along the Route 59 corridor from Will County to Cook County.

The purpose of the initiative was to increase the safety of citizens utilizing the thoroughfare through education and traffic enforcement. Our efforts concentrated on speed, distracted driving, and occupant restraint violations as well as other safety violations. During the mobilization, The above police departments issued:

  • 39 seat belt citations
  • 2 child restraint citations
  • 53 cell phone violations
  • 7 uninsured motorists citations
  • 56 speeding citations

The Naperville Police Department would like to remind all motorists to “Buckle Up” and drive safely.
