Reliever Ryan Quigley Returns to Slammers
Medical snag ends hometown star's bid to join Washington Nationals organization.

Ryan Quigley's bid to join the Washington Nationals was derailed by a medical concern.
The Joliet native will rejoin the Joliet Slammers Friday night in Traverse City, MI, for a series against the Beach Bums.
Just a few days ago Quigley’s contract was purchased by the Washington Nationals and he went to the New York-Penn League expecting to pitch for the Auburn Doubledays.

Quigley was declared fit to play by the Auburn team physician. Once his information was sent to the major league team doctor, however, things changed. An old lower body injury that does not impact his current ability to pitch but was deemed to be a potential issue down the road caused the major league team doctor to decide that Quigley did not pass his physical.
Quigley has been excellent this season for the Slammers, saving six games in six chances and posting an ERA of 1.08 in nine appearances.

“We are excited to have Ryan back but we are really disappointed in the circumstances,” Slammers manager Bart Zeller said. “He has proven that he is healthy and that this old injury does not impact his ability to pitch.”
The Slammers play their second of three games with the Beach Bums at 6:05 p.m. They return home Sunday for the start of a six-game home stand.
