Jake Renshaw threw his team leading third complete game as the Joliet Slammers swept the Gateway Grizzlies with a 3-1 victory Thursday night.
Joliet got on the board in the top of the first as Gateway’s defense handed them a run. With one away Brad Netzel singled up the middle. Hector Pellot followed with a single of his own that was badly misplayed by center fielder DJ Fitzgerald for a two-base error as Netzel came around to score.
Gateway immediately tied the game as Brandon Peters smacked a solo home run in the bottom of the first.
