Rep. Batinick to Donate 10% of Salary to Local Charities

Representative Mark Batinick pledges to donate 10% of salary to local charities.

Community involvement is a great way to enrich your own life and those of others around you. We are fortunate to have dozens of outstanding civic and charitable organizations in our area who are worthy of our support.

I am pleased to announce that I will donate 10% of my salary each month to a local charitable cause. The first two I’ve selected both have fundraising events coming up – the Greater Joliet Area YMCA and the Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club.

The Greater Joliet Area YMCA has been serving families regardless of age, income or background from throughout Will County since 1928. A mainstay in the Joliet community for more than 85 years, the YMCA brings families closer together, encourages good health and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests.

The YMCA is hosting their eighth annual Giving Gala on Saturday, February 28, at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. Funds raised from this year’s Giving Gala will benefit the YMCA’s scholarship fund, helping to ensure that no one is turned away from the YMCA due to the inability to pay. For more information about the event, please visit www.jolietymca.org.

The YMCA is mourning the recent loss of the Giving Gala’s co-chairman, Tim Stetenfeld, an award-winning financial advisor with the Plainfield office of Edward Jones Investments. I filed HR 114 to honor Tim’s memory, which was adopted by the Illinois House of Representatives on February 4. Please join me in keeping Tim’s wife, Cathy, and her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Tim’s service to others and his many contributions to our community will be greatly missed.

The other organization I am donating to this month is The Plainfield Junior Woman’s Club (PJWC).

PJWC is a nonprofit dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer services. PJWC provides an opportunity for women to network toward common goals and mutual interests. Women involved in the organization gain personal growth through leadership training and development. PJWC is a Subsidiary of General Federation of Women’s Club of Illinois (GFWC), one of the largest service organizations in the country. The Plainfield chapter is proud to be one of 250 clubs in Illinois.

On Friday, March 6, the 6th Annual Spring Fundraiser PJWC’s Casino Night will take place at the Bolingbrook Golf Club. For details, please visit the PJWC online at https://pjwcil.wordpress.com/.

I am making a donation to the PJWC and hope you will consider them and the Greater Joliet YMCA as well. Giving back to the community lifts us all up and sets a positive example for the next generation.
