rQ Barbecue: Shorewood's Newest Eatery Promises Succulent Flavor
WCCQ will be on hand for restaurant's grand opening event on June 17 in Shorewood.

If you’re like me, you’re always on the lookout for a new restaurant and a new taste treat.
Like barbeque? Then, Shorewood’s newest eatery might be worth sampling one day soon.
“Whether you favor barbeque from Carolina, Kansas City, Memphis, Texas or even Chicago, great barbeque is ultimately about rejoicing in the flavor and tenderness,” stated Ronald Rupp in a news release announcing the opening of rQ Barbecue, 643-645 Brook Forest Ave., Shorewood.
The restaurant tentatively is scheduled to open on or around June 7, he said.
“rQ Barbecue creates succulent wood-smoked meats paired with zesty house-made sauces that further enhance the already delicious flavors of these carefully prepared select cuts,” Rupp stated. “Enjoy your barbecue on wholesome white or whole oat bread, in a freshly steamed wrap or even as part of a crisp salad.”
The restaurant offers drive thru, carry out or delivery service as well as a welcoming, in-house ambiance for dining, Rupp said.
You’ll also be able to order online at www.rqbarbecue.com.
Ronald Rupp and his wife, JoAnn, live in Plainfield now, but originally are from Kansas City, where barbecue is an essential part of the culture. The two have more than 40 years combined experience in restaurant and ingredient industries and look forward to serving you—one dish at a time.
“While it is first and foremost a style of cooking and one of the healthiest ways to prepare delicious cuts of meat, it is also a place for friends and family to gather, a way to support your local sports team, a celebration, a competition, and, most importantly, a part of the community,” stated Rupp of rQ Barbecue.
He said rQ Barbecue will celebrate its Grand Opening on June 17 with WCCQ (98.3 FM) on hand to help pump up the crowd.
