Sandra G. Nash passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was 86 years old.
Born on August 16, 1939, in Los Angeles, California, Sandra was the beloved daughter of the late Alexander and Elizabeth (née Juhasz) Gubanyi. She grew up in Montebello, California, and graduated from Montebello Senior High School, where she met the love of her life, John Nash. Their lifelong love and partnership became the foundation of a family that Sandra cherished above all else.

Sandra was a woman of remarkable strength, independence, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a proud Navy wife, she embraced the adventures and challenges of military life with grace and resilience. Her greatest joy was bringing loved ones together, and she was happiest when hosting family gatherings and holiday celebrations, creating memories that will be treasured for generations.
Throughout her professional life, Sandra was respected for her dedication and leadership. After high school her ability and personal presentation won the position of Account Clerk I, with the Montebello Schools Board of Education, a prized and very responsible position in the organization. She served with distinction in this role, earning merit-based advancements before leaving the position to join her husband in Japan. Sandra later served as Business Manager for Oak Glen Realty in Morgan Hill, California, and later worked for several years as Financial Manager with Poly Group Builders in Joliet, Illinois. Sandra generously gave her time and talents to her community as the past president of the Trustee Board of Salem Village.
A woman of deep faith, Sandra was a longtime parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church, where she found strength, fellowship, and purpose.
Sandra is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, John Nash; her two sons, Ray (Lisa) Nash and Eric (Tracy) Nash; and her five grandchildren, Connor, Kyle, Logan, John Lawrence, and Erin Nicole Nash.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her in-laws, Ray and Dorothy Nash.
Visitation for Sandra G. Nash will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500S. Navajo Dr., Channahon, IL. Family and friends are invited to meet directly at church at 9:45 a.m. where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately by the family at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 S. Navajo Dr., Channahon, IL 60410 would be appreciated.
