Sax In The Timbers

A golden-throated saxophonist is sure to take The Timbers of Shorewood by storm.

Musician Michael J. Finn will perform Sept. 7 at The Timbers of Shorewood.

The 6:30 p.m. show at the 1100 N. River Road retirement community is free and open to the public.

Known as the “Sax Player with a Great Voice,” Finn will perform favorite songs from the ‘20s through the ‘80s. He began playing saxophone at the age of 10 with instruction by Walt Parazaider, a founding member of the famous band “Chicago.”

“I taught myself guitar and piano in grade school and sang lead in a group that I started called ‘The Sound Reaction’,” Finn said. “In high school, my dreams continued to grow musically and by fronting a horn band, ‘The Chosen Few,’ I was able to sharpen my skills in front of larger audiences.”

As Finn continued his musical education in college, he became part of a touring group that played the Playboy Club circuit and large hotel chains. He became a professional disc jockey and traveled the United States. Returning to Chicago in 1984, he got back into live performing and shared stages with many great musicians associated with rock, blues and jazz.
