Shorewood Child Suffers Burns, Man Faces 6 Felonies
Cedric Rodriguez is no longer in Will County's custody after posting 10 percent of his $125,000 bond.

SHOREWOOD, IL - A young man now living in Joliet has posted his $125,000 bond after being arrested over the weekend in connection with allegations of felony child abuse in Shorewood. A criminal complaint was filed Monday against Cedric Rodriguez, who turns 22 next month. He stands accused of six separate felony crimes in Will County: two charges of aggravated battery against a child under 13 causing permanent disabilities; two more felony charges of aggravated battery against a child under 13 causing bodily harm; and another two felony charges of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.
Shorewood's Deputy Chief of Police Jason Barten told the Joliet Herald-News that DCFS was initially notified after a child suffering burns on her hands was brought to Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet. Barten told the newspaper that the subsequent criminal investigation by Shorewood Police Friday night determined the boyfriend of the child's mother was responsible for the injuries.
Officers from the Shorewood Police Department took Rodriguez into custody early Saturday morning. By supper time Saturday he had posted 10 percent of his bail, jail logs show.

As a condition of his release, Rodriguez was ordered by the judge to stay away from the victim, as well as the child's mother and the address where the suspected abuse occurred in the 600 block of Shorewood's Heintz Drive. When Rodriguez was booked into the Will County, he listed his address as the 600 block of Heintz Drive.
However, court records filed Monday at the courthouse now reflect that Rodriguez resides in the 500 block of Joliet's Ward Avenue.
