Shorewood Dad Traveling to Brazil to Bring Home Abducted Daughter
The child's mom took the girl to Brazil in 2008 when she feared she would be deported.

SHOREWOOD, IL — A Shorewood man’s daughter is living in Brazil, and he’s making it his mission to bring her back.
Michael Sanchez told The Herald-News that in 2008 the child’s mom took his daughter, Emily Machado, to Brazil, but she never returned.
Out of the three trips he’s made since then, he’s only seen his daughter twice.

Sanchez set up a GoFundMe page to help finance a trip to Brazil to bring his daughter back once and for all. Now that he’s raised enough money, he’ll fly out Nov. 7 and stay for six months.
The child’s mother and her grandparents all know he’s coming, according to the report, and they all have paperwork to come back to America, except for the mother, who reportedly used deportation fears as the reason for fleeing to Brazil.

Sanchez said he’ll try to spend as much time with his daughter as he can. Still, he’s unsure how the trip will pan out.
“It can go either way,” Sanchez said in the article. “They’re unpredictable. They abducted my child, so that doesn’t get out my head. They could lie, or they could actually want to work with me and get everybody home.”
