Elderly Woman Attacked In Home Invasion, Shorewood PD Confirms
Shorewood Police urge people who have video surveillance of this man or his vehicle to call them.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Shorewood Police Department's chief believes his agency is getting close to identifying the man who attacked an elderly resident at her home during the day on Saturday, leaving her hospitalized. The man has been linked to least one other Shorewood home invasion.
"We think we're in a very good spot," Shorewood Chief of Police Aaron Klima told Patch Monday night.
"We know it's not somebody local," Klima said. "We know he was in two places."

Klima confirmed that there was only one person who was injured by the man who attacked her inside of her home.
A woman in her eighties was transported by ambulance to St. Joe's hospital during the day on Saturday. "She's been injured," Klima confirmed on Monday evening. "She's still at St. Joe's."

Shorewood Police's initial statement about the crimes posted on Sunday night on Facebook did not mention that somebody had been attacked by the burglar.
According to Shorewood Police, one of the crimes occurred in the 500 block of Helene Street and the other crime was in the 900 block of Caprice Drive. One crime is classified in police reports as a burglary and the other is listed as a home invasion.
The crimes occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.
Shorewood Police say the man used "an attempted ruse of an occupied residence, forced entry into a non-occupied residence and a ruse entry into an occupied residence."
Klima issued a news release on Monday afternoon explaining that "the incidents appear all to be related at this time; however, there is no correlation between the residences either attempted or where entry was gained. At this time, they appear random."
Shorewood Police said the man has been described as either white or Hispanic in his early 30s. The truck was a dark colored full-sized pick up, black or dark gray, perhaps a Chevrolet, Shorewood Police said.
