Shorewood House Fire: Resident Suffers Smoke Inhalation
Firefighters from Troy Township, Plainfield, East Joliet, Joliet, Rockdale, Minooka and Channahon helped put out Wednesday night's blaze.

SHOREWOOD, IL — One resident at a house in the 300 block of Meadow Drive suffered smoke inhalation, and several area fire departments traveled to Shorewood to help the Troy Township Fire Protection District put out Wednesday night's blaze.
Troy Fire Chief Andy Doyle said the fire was reported around 6:45 p.m. The fire began in the basement and the flames spread into other parts of the house. Doyle said the house is now temporarily uninhabitable due to the smoke and fire damage.
Doyle said one of the residents was treated at the scene by firefighters after suffering smoke inhalation. The resident was not taken to the hospital, Doyle said.

By 8 p.m., the fire was put out and Troy Township firefighters were investigating the cause of the blaze. Doyle said the structure fire did not appear to be suspicious.
The house is near the corner of Carla and Meadows.
