Shorewood Man, 72, Recklessly Discharges Shotgun: Complaint

SHOREWOOD, IL — A 72-year-old Shorewood man has remained in the Will County Jail for more than a week, in connection with allegations he endangered the lives of people in the 200 block of Westshore Drive by firing his shotgun at them.

The incident happened Aug. 19, and felony charges against Richard Emerick were filed last week by the Will County State's Attorney's Office. Emerick is being charged with two counts of reckless discharge of a gun and two counts of criminal property damage.

The property damage charges indicate that Emerick's actions damaged the exterior of a residence in the 200 block of Westshore Drive, and damaged the woman's Dodge minivan as well.

Shorewood police arrested Emerick and booked him into the Will County Jail on Aug. 19.

On Monday, he remained in custody, unable to post 10 percent of his $10,000 bail.
