Shorewood Man Mails Marijuana From Las Vegas: Complaint

SHOREWOOD, IL —A 66-year-old Shorewood resident is now behind the steel bars of the Will County Jail after authorities arrested him Tuesday on two Class X felony drug trafficking charges. James Gajcak of the 500 block of Helene Avenue was hauled away in handcuffs by Shorewood Police officers, jail logs indicate. Gajcak shipped more than 5,000 grams of marijuana through the U.S. Postal Service in Las Vegas, Nevada during the past week, the criminal complaint states.

The Shorewood man "knowingly caused to be brought 5,000 grams or more of cannabis into the state of Illinois for the purpose of delivering said cannabis in Illinois," court documents note. Court documents explain that the crimes occurred between Oct. 30 through Nov. 5.

One of the charges is unlawful cannabis trafficking and the other charge is conspiracy to commit cannabis trafficking.

Bail was set for the Shorewood man at $250,000. He remained in custody on Wednesday afternoon.

The marijuana trafficking investigation was spearheaded by the Joliet Metropolitan Area Narcotics Squad, the court documents note.
