SHOREWOOD, IL — Last weekend's heavy rain storms destroyed the tents that were set up ahead of time for Shorewood's annual Oktoberfest. The damage prompted Shorewood to cancel the 2019 event at the last minute.

This week, Shorewood village officials announced that the 2019 community event won't happen after all.

"Unfortunately due to date conflicts with vendors and the damage done from the storm Oktoberfest 2019 will not be rescheduled. We are incredibly thankful that no one was hurt during the storms at the fest grounds," the village of Shorewood announced on Facebook. "We look forward to a great event next year and hope for better weather."
