SHOREWOOD, IL — A small family owned and operated sit-down restaurant that began inside the old Family Video store on Route 59 and Theodore Street has now expanded and moved into the old Pepe's Mexican Restaurant building on Shorewood's Vertin Boulevard.

Village of Shorewood officials notified Joliet Patch's editor that gaining the Mi Rancho Mexican Restaurant is a great addition for their growing village of 18,000 folks.

"Shorewood is pleased to welcome family-owned Mi Rancho Mexican Restaurant to the community," remarked Natalie Engel, Shorewood's economic development director. "Located at 231 Vertin Boulevard, Mi Rancho offers a welcoming, casual setting for families and friends to enjoy authentic Mexican favorites, including tacos, burritos, tortas and much more.

Guests can dine in the restaurant’s spacious dining room or bar area, enjoy a meal outdoors on the patio, or order their favorites to go. We’re excited to have Mi Rancho join Shorewood’s growing restaurant community and encourage residents to stop in and give them a warm welcome."

“It’s great to see another restaurant choose this location and invest in Shorewood," Shorewood two-term Mayor CC DeBold remarked. "We continue to see very few vacant storefronts throughout the community, which speaks to the strong demand for places to dine and do business locally.”

Upon learning that Mi Rancho moved from Joliet to its new Shorewood location, one loyal customer named Samuel posted the following remarks in the Joliet Area Bar and Restaurant Facebook group of Brian Bessler: "I went to the closed location not knowing they moved. This is great news! Best in the area. Al pastor, barbacoa and quesabirrias are fantastic! Thanks for the heads up. I’m very relieved they are still open and thriving. The old family video spot was a bad location and probably hidden for most people."

A person named Randy responded to everyone: "Looking forward to trying it. My son would go when it was at Theodore and 59 and had nothing but good things to say."

"Went yesterday. Got al pastor tacos. REALLY good," wrote Brian.
