In his testimony before the Commission, Gould indicated the proposed rate increases would create a hardship upon residents of the subdivision in just outside Shorewood, and also noted the problems of low water pressure, lack of a water tower in the subdivision, and poor water quality, according to a statement released by the county board member.
“An increase of over 200 percent in water and sewer rates would be outrageous even in a good economy, but totally excessive and unacceptable under current economic conditions," Gould said in the statement. "I believe we have provided the ICC all the information necessary to show these proposed rate hikes are not justified.”
