Shorewood Scoot Makes Nice Comeback: Chamber

After bringing back the Shorewood Scoot, Chamber officials hope to draw an even more participants next year.

SHOREWOOD, IL - The Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce said it was pleased with Saturday's return of The Shorewood Scoot, a 5K walk-run that drew a total of 83 participants. The race's winner was Ryan Kelley, a 27-year-old runner from Minooka. Kelley finished in 17:45, according to Chamber president Carol Wagner. The oldest runner in The Shorewood Scoot was a 74-year-old woman from Channahon.

The course began and ended near the village of Shorewood Police Department. Wagner said that stretches of the course included a number of neighborhood hills, making the event challenging for everyone. The weather was gorgeous, she said. The race started at 8 a.m. The 5K raised funds for Make Your Mark Foundation, Wagner said.

"It was just a beautiful day," Wagner told Shorewood Patch. "This was our first year that the Chamber and Athletico teamed up as the sponsors, so hopefully, we will continue to get even more runners and participants in the future. I think we will do it again. It was a great day."
