Shorewood's New YMCA Already Has Over 5,800 Members, Here's What It Looks Like: Patch Photo Gallery
The new Shorewood YMCA, replacing Joliet's Galowich YMCA on Houbolt Road, will open at 5 a.m. on Monday. It's on Route 52 at Wynstone.

SHOREWOOD, IL — At Thursday's state of the village speech by Shorewood Mayor Clarence "CC" DeBold, more than 150 guests and area politicians had a chance to tour the new the village of Shorewood YMCA which opens for real Monday.
DeBold gave his speech inside the new YMCA gymnasium, and he talked about the enormous impact that the village of Shorewood YMCA will have upon his growing community of 18,000 residents. DeBold noted the new YMCA is over 60,000 square feet of building space and it features 8 acres for outdoor activities.
"What more can I say about the Shorewood YMCA," DeBold declared. "Monday, they open at 5 a.m."

The Village of Shorewood YMCA, located at 1801 W. Jefferson Street, will host an Open House from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 2. Open to the community, the event will provide YMCA members and area residents with the opportunity to explore the new YMCA facility, meet the staff team, and learn more about the wide range of programs and services available to the community.
Even though the new YMCA has not even opened yet, it has created 178 new jobs in town and there's already more than 5,800 people who signed up to become members of the new Shorewood YMCA — and half of them are new members for the YMCA, Mayor DeBold proudly announced.

DeBold said the new YMCA was designed with plans for future growth. The large parcel of land along Route 52 and Wynstone Boulevard — where Shorewood just added a stop light — can accommodate four eventual building expansions for the YMCA "as we continue to grow," DeBold proclaimed.

The Shorewood YMCA will maintain the following hours of business operations: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
Several area public officials attended Thursday's state of the village speech hosted by the Plainfield-Shorewood Area Chamber of Commerce including Will County Executive Jennifer Bertino-Tarrant, Will County Board Speaker Joe VanDuyne, a Democrat from Wilmington, and Will County Board Chief of Staff Chuck Pelkie.
Katy Leclair serves as president and chief executive officer of the Greater Joliet Area YMCA which also serves Grundy County where a new YMCA was built in Morris. Trisha Dust is the new executive director for the village of Shorewood YMCA.
During Thursday's state of the village speech, Mayor DeBold let everyone know that Minooka Community High School will be using the new indoor swimming pool for its practices and swimming competitions.
According to DeBold, the new Shorewood YMCA's current membership drive is offering a zero-dollar joining fee.
According to the YMCA brochure, it's normal 2026 membership rates are as follows:
Family Plus: Monthly Rate $126, Joiner's Fee $120.
Family: Monthly Rate $92, Joiner's Fee $120.
One Adult Family: Monthly Rate $82, Joiner's Fee $100.
Two Adults: Monthly Rate $77, Joiner's Fee $100.
Adult, Ages 26-plus: Monthly Rate $80, Joiner's Fee $59.
Young Adult, Ages 19-25, Monthly Rate $40, Joiner's Fee $44.
Youth, Ages 0 to 18, Monthly Rate: $37, Joiner's Fee: $40.
