Slammers Rip Rascals
The Slammers set season highs in runs and hits as they evened their series with River City.

Kyle Maunus tallied four hits and drove in a team record seven runs as the Slammers crushed the River City Rascals 16-1 Saturday night.
With the win the Slammers remained 4.5 games up on the Traverse City Beach Bums in the East Division of the Frontier League.
The first inning set the tone for the game as the Slammers scored three times.

Josh Flores started things with a single, Brad Netzel walked and Hector Pellot singled to load the bases against River City starter Wayde Kitchens.
Reid Chenworth followed with a two-RBI single and the Slammers were on the board. Two outs later Maunus singled home Pellot to extend the lead to 3-0.

They Slammers scored seven runs in the second and put the game completely out of reach.
Bobby Leeper and Flores smacked back to back singles to start the frame. Netzel drew his second walk in as many innings to load the bases. Pellot singled in two and Chenworth crushed a double to drive in one more.
Sean Estand was hit by a pitch and with one away Maunus singled in two more. The throw in got away and Maunus advanced to second on the play. A Ben Hewett sacrifice fly drove in Estand and a wild pitch scored Maunus to complete the monster inning.
Starter Ryne Miller got even more run support in the fifth.
With one out Flores and Netzel got things going again with singles. Then with two away a wild pitch scored Flores from third. Chenworth walked and Estand was hit by a pitch to load the bases. David Fox singled in Netzel for the second run of the inning. His hit was immediately followed by a Maunus RBI single to make the score 13-0 in favor of the Slammers.
Miller notched his first victory of the season after five losses. He went five innings, giving up one run on three hits, walking three and striking out three.
