Speedy Motorcyclist Fails To Elude Shorewood Police: Complaint
Nick Giocolo faces a $100,000 bond after he tried to outrun the Shorewood police on his Yamaha motorcycle.

SHOREWOOD, IL - If you are friends with Joliet resident Nick Giocolo, you probably won't see him out and about this Labor Day Weekend on his Yamaha motorcycle. The 23-year-old man remains locked up at the Will County Adult Detention Center after he tried to outrun a Shorewood police car that tried to stop him for excessive speeding, a criminal complaint states. His most serious crimes he faces are felony counts of aggravated driving by fleeing a police officer and aggravated driving by going more than 21 mph over the speed limit during a police pursuit.
His four misdemeanor charges accuse him of driving more than 35 mph over the speed limit, reckless driving and two counts related to driving on a suspended or revoked license. According to the criminal complaint, Shorewood police officers clocked him for excessive speeding on the North Frontage Road around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday. The officer activated the sirens and flashing blue lights to notify Giocolo to stop his motorcycle, but he ignored the commands and kept on speeding, the complaint states. During the pursuit, Giocolo rode his Yamaha at least 21 mph over the speed limit, the complaint states. Ultimately, Shorewood police officers took him into custody.
As it stands, Giocolo, who shows an address in the 3500 block of Harris Drive, will remain in the Will County jail until he comes up with $10,000 cash, which is 10 percent of his $100,000 bond, to secure his release from custody while his criminal case is pending.
