Stay Out Of DuPage River, Troy Fire Warns

The fire department made the announcement Sunday night.

The Troy Fire Protection District issued the following the statement on Sunday evening:

SHOREWOOD, IL - We are asking everyone to please refrain from boating, canoeing, kayaking or tubing in the DuPage River. The river is in flood stage and the current is very fast and rapid. We have already responded to request for rescues in the water and this is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. You are putting yourself and the rescuers in danger. We have also seen videos posted on Facebook of kayakers going over where the dam is located in Hammel Woods. One kayaker was thrown out of his kayak and was very lucky he was able to get himself out. As stated before, this is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
