Tri County Stockdale Fire: Shorewood Addresses Water Concerns
As a result of Tuesday's fire, we have indications that materials have migrated from the impacted site, Shorewood officials announced.

SHOREWOOD, IL — Shorewood village officials issued a news release Thursday letting its more than 17,300 residents know that there are no serious health concerns involving the quality of Shorewood's water system.
The news release was issued in reference to Tuesday's horrific 4:30 a.m. fire at the Tri County Stockdale Company located in rural Shorewood at 25520 West Black Road.
The site is safe, the investigation continues, and the cleanup and mitigation efforts are ongoing, according to Shorewood's public officials. Thursday's news release was sent to Joliet Patch on behalf of Shorewood Village Administrator Aaron Klima.

"As a result of that incident, we have indications that materials have migrated from the impacted site. To be clear, there is no concern for the quality of water in the Village of Shorewood water system. We do however have indications of contaminants in the storm sewer system that includes some of the detention ponds located in the Saddlebrook, Edgewater South, and Rollingwood subdivisions."
Shorewood noted that it is working with the EPA, Illinois Department of Natural Resources and Will County Emergency Management Agency to contain, investigate, and remediate the migration of those materials.

"Until the situation is resolved, we ask people to not recreate at or near those ponds. We understand people may have questions or concerns.
