Troy Board Makes Haste

A long list of action items did not slow the new school board down.

In a 20 minute meeting, the Troy School Board got a lot accomplished.

They said goodbye to a retiring principal, congratulated student athletes, paid bills, hired, fired and approved resolutions.

Troy Shorewood Principal Dan Malloy thanked the board. He retires this month.

Then in what resembled a speed dating event, the board approved eight personnel matters and 11 other issues. Troy Middle School will now have a golf team, and William B. Orenic will gain an assistant sixth-grade girls volleyball coach.

Concerning lunch and milk costs, the board retained the same fees from last year. A school lunch will remain $2.25 and reduced-price lunch will go for 40 cents. A carton of milk will remain 35 cents.

The board also approved a revised health exam and immunization policy. To read the complete policy, click here.

Of the eight personnel matters, the board dismissed a teacher, accepted six resignations, and appointed eight others. It also rehired numerous substitute positions. For a complete list, click here.
