Troy Helps With Meds & Shreds

Troy Township will shred your paper and dispose of your medication.

will host its semi-annual shredding event on April 21 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Troy residents can take their personal papers and documents to the parking lot on the west side of the township offices and community center to be shredded by ShredX. Participants must show proof of township residency and are allowed to have two letter-size file or copy paper boxes shredded.

In conjunction with the shredding event, the township has partnered with the to collect unneeded or expired medication. Staff from the police department will be present to collect the medication and ensure proper disposal.

The following items will be accepted:

  • Prescription medications
  • Over-the-counter medications
  • Medicated ointments
  • Medicated shampoos
  • Liquids containing medications
  • Prescription inhalers
  • Over-the-counter inhalers
  • Glass thermometers containing mercury
  • Medical devices containing mercury

  • DEA controlled substances
  • Bio-hazardous materials
  • Sharps/needles
  • Radioactive materials
  • Other household wastes

Make sure to bring only residentially generated medication items. No medications from businesses or doctor’s offices will be accepted. Use a permanent marker to black out your name or personal information on the label.
