Troy Middle School Science Bowl Team Does Well At Argonne

Five T.M.S. 8th graders competed at Argonne National Laboratory Regional Middle School Science Bowl

Troy Middle School Science Bowl students did well at the recent Argonne National Laboratory Regional Middle School Science Bowl competition, winning four of their seven matches. Fifteen area teams competed at the event, which was held at Oswego East High School.

T.M.S. Science Bowl Sponsor Dr. Barbara Will-Henn said the Troy Middle School Science Bowl team was composed of eighth-graders, led by Team Captain Ivan Chen. Other members who competed were Jacob Cucci, Emily McCune, Paige Rakes and Hayden Smidl.

The Argonne National Laboratory Regional Middle School Science Bowl is a competition sponsored by the Department of Energy designed to challenge young students who are passionate about science and engineering. Many of the questions the students tackled were taken from high school and college text books and included the subjects of biology, chemistry, earth science, physics and math.
