PLAINFIELD, IL - A group of six musicians at Troy Middle School have been selected to be in the All-Illinois Junior Band. Five eighth graders and one seventh grader will be members of the elite state-wide band at the University of Illinois in January.
Myles Shackelford is the lone Troy seventh grader selected for the honor on percussion. Eighth graders Abigail Athern (trumpet), Lauren Gans (tenor saxophone), Nathan Hunsaker (trombone), Ellen Lundeen (horn) and Alexander MacGregor (tuba) were also selected, according to Troy Community School District 30-C Band Director William Goetz.
“Middle school musicians from around the state submitted recorded auditions,” Goetz said. “And only the best were selected.”
