USF Hosts Heroin Epidemic Awareness Event
Joliet event is sponsored by the department of social work.

The University of St. Francis Social Work Club will host “In the Blink of an Eye: A Closer Look at the Heroin Epidemic Sweeping Across Our Country” from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, in the university’s auditorium.
The event will include speakers John Roberts, founder of the HERO (Heroin Epidemic Relief Organization) foundation, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow, Associate Judge Raymond Nash and master’s of social work student Beric Wessely.
Check-in is at 6:30 p.m. for the event, which includes free appetizers and beverages.

The event will have a panel-type format with speaker who “will lead you through an unforgettable discussion about the drug heroin and its devastating effects.”
According to the Will County Coroner’s office, there have been 29 accidental heroin-related overdose deaths so far in 2014.
