Victim: 'A Neighbor Must Have Heard The Fighting And Called Police'
A 46-year-old woman has obtained an order of protection against 48-year-old Shorewood resident Gregory Petrusich. He faces 10 charges.

SHOREWOOD, IL — One week after the Will County State's Attorney's Office filed 10 criminal charges against 48-year-old Shorewood resident Gregory Petrusich, a Will County judge has granted an emergency order of protection. The document prevents Petrusich from having any future contact with the 46-year-old woman while his court case proceeds to trial.
Petrusich's violent behavior took place Sept. 3 at his house on West Balmoral Drive, according to the Will County State's Attorney Office. Petrusich is charged with three counts of aggravated battery, four counts of resisting arrest and three counts of domestic battery.
The criminal complaint indicated that the Shorewood man shoved a woman multiple times, and he wiped his blood on her during the Sept. 3 attack.

According to the order of protection granted by the judge:
On Sept. 3, around 11 p.m., "Gregg was drinking all evening and became very argumentative, started bringing up old issues. We were verbally arguing, and then he pushed me several times. He cornered me in the laundry room, pushed me into the corner, and tried to take my phone out of my hands because I threatened to call 911 and had the number entered in my phone."

According to the court documents, "He followed me throughout the house while I was trying to walk away. He had his chest to my back, pushing me and I threw my arm back to get him off of me and my phone in my hand did hit him in the face."
The victim indicated she exited the front door and got in her car to leave the house.
"He tried to stop me from leaving by throwing chairs, rakes, shovels at and behind my car," court documents note. "I removed them several times and one of the times as I was bending over to remove the rakes and shovels, he shoved me trying to knock me down ... He was behind my vehicle trying to stop me from reversing so I turned and went through the yard."
Once the woman left, she called her family.
"A neighbor must have heard the fighting and called the police," court documents state. "He proceeded to argue and be combative with the police. This went on for almost 20 to 30 minutes. He was arrested and is still currently in jail."
According to Will County court records, Petrusich's bail was set at $25,000 and his mother in Channahon posted the necessary 10 percent to regain her son's freedom on Sept. 6.
As part of his bond, Petrusich must have no contact with the woman he is accused of attacking, and he must stay away from his house on West Balmoral Drive, court records show. Petrusich was also ordered to obtain a SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) device upon his release from Will County's Jail.
He also has to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation, according to court records.
