'Walk a Mile in Her Shoes' to Raise Awareness of Sexual Assault

Annual men's event to end sexual violence set for Saturday in Joliet.

Men will be asked to walk a mile in women's shoes — literally — at an annual Guardian Angel Community Services event designed to raise awareness of sexual assault.

"Walk a Mile in Her Shoes" is set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 26, at Guardian Angel, 1550 Plainfield Rd.

Guardian Angel is looking for men to participate in the free event — particularly men in uniform, such as police and Boy Scouts.

The event , which will include guest speakers, raffles and an awareness rally, is open to everyone, regardless of age or gender.

Guardian Angel will provide the shoes, which will be available in a wide range of styles.

The event is free, but anyone who donates a minimum of $25 will get a free event T-shirt and 10 raffle tickets.
